History/About the Owner

I was privileged to grow up in a rural setting on a small cattle farm, where I developed a desire for hunting at a young age. My earliest hunting excursions were walking the pasture with my cousin armed with a 12 gauge or .22 rifle looking for groundhogs and any other “ground critters” that happened to be about. I started shooting archery as a teenager and after 12 years of shooting compound bows, I was looking for something different, so I picked up an old recurve, that began my journey into the world of traditional archery. After that first recurve broke, I picked up 2 more used recurves and a shooting book by Fred Asbell. I really started shooting.

One day, looking at one of the bows, I decided that I wanted to try to build one. A chance meeting, with a now good friend, started my bow building career. I’m an Engineer by trade, so there is something in me that:

  1. Always wants to know how something works and
  2. Knows that everything can be improved upon.

I received a copy of a book by renown bowyer Jack Harrison who spent years researching bow design theory. This is what sparked my interest in designing my own bow. Around this time, I started what is now an almost annual trip out west hunting elk. I decided to work on a 3 piece takedown (T/D) longbow that was forgiving to shoot, could shoot a heavy arrow well, and was easy to pack. After many months of prototypes, redesigning forms, and speed testing I developed my T/D longbow. Along with the T/D longbow, I have added the T/D recurves and one piece longbows to my line.
